Scott McGillivray Transforms a Magical Algonquin Lakes Boho Boathouse

There’s something special about most vacation properties, but a vacation property on the lake? Now that’s a vacay not to be missed. Because of current zoning laws, you’re no longer allowed to build a boathouse on a lake in Ontario, but that doesn’t mean you can’t renovate one. So that’s just what mother-daughter duo Sabrina and Tess wanted to do with their newly acquired Algonquin Lakes boathouse.

But with terrible water stains on the ceiling, a deck that was absolutely falling apart, and less than ideal renting conditions, they needed help. So they called up Scott McGillivray and the Vacation House Rules team. See how Scott and designer Debra Salmoni not only salvaged this unique property but turned it into a chic boho boathouse retreat.
