What do you do if Scott McGillivray and Bryan Baeumler hand you the keys to a brand new cabin and tell you to design it however you want? Well, if you’re Renovation Resort winners Rotem and Troy, you come up with the ultimate Mediterranean escape.
This Toronto-based married couple wowed the hosts throughout the series, ultimately beating out three other teams to be named Renovation Resort champions. From their gorgeous custom arches to their calm and breezy décor style, read on to see the completed rooms that landed them the big win.
A Renovation Resort Winners’ Welcome
From the second you walk into Troy and Rotem’s cabin, you’re greeted with warm finishes and cozy design features. The rustic floor is unlike any flooring you’d find in other Ontario cottages, adding to the unique vibe. Meanwhile, the simple shiplap finish on the wall and ceiling add exciting texture and natural elements to the space.
The Primary Retreat
In the first week, Troy and Rotem created this dreamy primary bedroom escape with plenty of serene elements, like the sconces and throws, plus the gorgeous tree. That wooden ceiling continues here to bring even more warmth into the room, making this a snug space that anyone would be happy to nap in after an afternoon on the lake.
Custom Arches on Arches
One of the best features of this cabin is the custom arches everywhere, like this main floor bathroom, which feels like a downright spa. The large shower feels even more luxurious thanks to the framework, the gold hardware, the custom shelf, and the dual shower heads.
Stunning Stonework
Rotem and Troy doubled down on their theme in the living room without making it cheesy or gimmicky. This stone fireplace is understated and pretty, and feels like a space you would find on a Grecian island. Then, the shiplap continues on the back wall leading up to the hardwood stairs, and above, the custom faux beams take your breath away.
Minty Perfection
The winning duo wanted lots of prep space and seating areas in the kitchen for larger groups, hence the oversized island. There’s another custom arch by the gourmet stove and pot filler, plus a pretty backsplash you’ll remember post-vacation. One of the best parts? They incorporated the sink into the island, so whoever is stuck on dishes duty doesn’t have to feel left out of the party.
An Eye For Detail
On the other side of the kitchen, the couple crafted this custom bench with bonus storage and even more seating room, ensuring this is a space for hours of entertainment. The real selling point, however, is the fake beams above, which tie in with the beams in the living room and create the illusion of a Mediterranean skylight.
Lofty Ambitions
Upstairs in the loft area, Troy and Rotem added real value to the space by incorporating a small office nook and a hidden gym. With more people looking to work out during their vacations, it was an intelligent use of space that didn’t detract from the main design, adding tons of functionality and rental appeal.
Sweet Dreams
In the second bedroom, Rotem and Troy tied the downstairs elements in by adding more faux beams, adding instant luxury to the space. The dreamy wallpaper behind the bed is a simple but pretty feature wall, resulting in a light, airy space that feels almost as high-end as the primary bedroom.
Something For the Kids
The couple showed off even more custom work in the third bedroom, where bunk beds and a play loft add instant rental potential for families with kids. By building the furniture themselves, they could keep the light pouring in from those windows, all while adding fun elements like the hanging chair and the peephole above.
Green With Envy
In the upstairs bathroom, Rotem and Troy continued the theme with these gorgeous shower tiles that are vibrant and memorable without feeling extra. Paired with natural wood finishes and gold accents, they give the bathroom that modern and spa-like vibe you want when you’re seeking a rental space.
An Outdoor Oasis
Outside, Troy and Rotem opted to skip the hot tub that all the other teams installed and went for this low-maintenance sauna instead. It fits the Mediterranean theme while adding instant rental appeal, transforming this backyard into a European-like getaway.
Dockside Entertainment
Last but not least, this couple incorporated an easy firepit, plenty of seating by the water, a dreamy dock with even more lounge space, and a custom bench for hanging out on or fishing from. It was designed with a boat in mind so renters can easily enjoy their time on the water, completing this beautiful and winning cabin from the inside out.
Congratulations to Renovation Resort winners, Rotem and Troy!
