Interior-design forecasts can be frustrating. Every few months a pundit is trying to tell you what you should love (and hate) in your home. But plaid — or buffalo checks and tartan — are keepers. The cross-hatched prints available in a range of colours are perennial favourites. They pop up on pillows, bedding, towels and every other textile to boot, from table runners and drapery to poufs and even shower curtains. During the holidays, plaid is the quintessential home-decor pattern, as warm as an old trusted friend. That’s why we’re sure you’ll find something to admire in these checkered pieces.
