Since starting her Jilly Box subscription service back in 2019, Home Network favourite Jillian Harris has made it a priority to highlight and support small Canadian businesses. Along with that, she has also made a point of including eco-friendly brands and products in every box she curates.
“I have always been so passionate about home decor,” Jillian says, “but it’s also so important to me to be good to Mother Earth and decorate in a thoughtful way that is less wasteful.” Over the years, the Jilly Box has included over 20 eco-friendly brands in an effort to showcase how stylish pieces and sustainability can go hand in hand. “It has been so special to share with the Jilly Box community how you can still have great style and enjoy decorating while being mindful of your carbon footprint,” she says.
Out of all the eco-friendly Canadian products that have been included in the various Jilly Boxes, these are Jillian’s top must-haves.

Mala – Mango Coconut Candle
In collaboration with Vancouver-based brand Mala, Jillian designed this candle to transport you to a tropical destination with scents of mango, coconut and musky sandalwood. In addition to smelling fantastic, the candle also comes in a reusable ceramic jar so it can live on beyond its 45-hour burn time.
Mango Coconut Candle, Mala the Brand, $39 each.
Hudson and Oak – Summer Scalp Planter
This planter was created and designed exclusively for the summer 2022 Jilly Box by Vancouver-based brand Hudson + Oak. The scalloped pattern is stylish and timeless enough to suit any household or plant that will live inside it.
Summer Scallop Planter, Hudson and Oak, $75 each.
Province of Canada – Bonjour Pillow Case
Jillian teamed up with clothing and home goods brand Province of Canada to design this “bonjour” cushion cover that screams Canadian couture. It’ll add flare to any living space, and it helps that the cover has a super fuzzy texture. It’s the definition of comfy and cute.
Bonjour Cushion Cover, Province of Canada, $84 each.
West Coast Seeds – Gardening Seeds
This collection of seeds that Jillian curated herself will give you a taste of the West Coast in your very own backyard. It includes eight seed packets along with wooden garden markers, tied together in a custom drawstring cinch bag. From kale to lavender, your garden will be blossoming in no time.

Eralume – Natural Woods Outdoor Spray
If there’s one thing we hate, it’s pesky bugs in the summertime. Thanks to this outdoor spray from Ontario-based brand Eralume, you can spend all summer outside, bug-free! The product is safe for kids age one and up (along with your pets) and it won’t leave your skin feeling dry and itchy thanks to the added aloe. Plus, it smells amazing with hints of eucalyptus, lemon, lavender and cedarwood.
Northern Woods Outdoor Spray, Eralume, $17 each.
The Better Farm Co – Natural Cotton Mesh Bags
Jillian adores these cotton mesh bags from Alberta-based brand The Better Farm Co. Each set you purchase features five bags of various sizes. They can be used for almost anything, from storing produce to washing your delicates. When your mesh bags no longer serve their purpose, they can simply be disposed of in your compost bin.
Natural Cotton Mesh Bags, The Better Farm Co., $32 per set of five.
Nemylu – Reusable Gift Boxes
You know how when you gift something to a child, they often prefer the box it came in to the gift itself? That will definitely be the case for everyone with these Canadian-made reusable boxes by Nemylu. The cotton canvas and recycled paperboard boxes feature a dusty rose ribbon, making them a trendy eco-friendly option to reduce the waste that comes with gift wrapping. Bonus: when not in use, they flatten to store!
Reusable Gift Boxes, Nemylu, $39 per set of two.
