Following the death of her beloved husband, Canadian superstar Céline Dion is putting her affairs in order-which includes closing the sale of her extravagant Quebec mansion, located on its own private island just outside Montreal. Recently sold for a whopping $25.5 million, check out the amazing features of this truly titanic home that’s like a Canadian castle.
Private Island
Located on its own 830,000-square-foot private island, Celine Dion’s home finally sold after being placed on the market two years ago. The realtor-Sotheby’s-confirms it’s the most expensive home on the market in the entire province of Quebec.
More Like a Castle
Not so much a home as it is a modern-day castle, the grand entry foyer features “luxurious classical interiors that are unrivaled in their finishing and detailing,” notes Sotheby’s.
Living Room
The formal living room, with the emphasis on “formal.” Imagine coming in, kicking off your shoes and settling in to relax at the Palace of Versailles and you get an idea of the vibe.
Custom Kitchen
All the modern conveniences are on hand in this completely customized artisan kitchen from high-end firm La Cornue Chateau.
Dining Room
The massive dining room is made for entertaining, and can comfortably sit 18 (even if the effect is sort of like having dinner in a medieval dungeon).
Sun Room
One of several sun rooms throughout the mansion, boasting numerous windows to allow natural light to flood in.
French Normand
According to Sotheby’s, the home was designed in the style of a French Normand chateau, which is apparent in the furnishings and design details throughout.
Attention to Detail
From the gorgeous wood flooring to the winding staircase to the intricately carved fireplace mantel, the attention to detail is second to none.
Media Room
The classic styling takes a breather in this media room/family room area that boasts a more modern aesthetic, complete with a big comfy couch positioned right in front of the TV.
Bathroom
A spectacularly over-the-top soaker tub is the centrepiece of this spacious bathroom.
Games Room
Located on the home’s lower level, this games room is adjacent to a vaulted stone wine cellar and integrated tasting room-because it’s always nice to have a splash of vino before getting your game on.
Ultimate Privacy
The backyard of the home is sprawling but very private, as the only way in or out is via a gated private bridge with a manned security post. If that’s not convenient (or private) enough, the realtor assures that there’s ample room on the island to build a helipad.
Poolhouse
Looking back at the main house, this “fabulous pool house,” notes Sotheby’s, is “equipped with its own kitchen and built-in grill, making outdoor entertaining a delight.”
