Paint and Colour Trends for 2026

Space-Age Teal

Word on the street is that teal will be a top trending colour in 2026. It’s not only popping up in TikTok videos and Fashion Week runways, but Elle Decor has already named it their pick for the colour of the year. We expect to see it popping up everywhere in homes, from kitchenware to colour-drenched living room walls. This colour will fit in well in palettes that suit so many upcoming trends; from coastal and maritime designs to futuristic space age styles.

Freshly Picked Cherry

Another colour that we predict will be everywhere in 2026 is this rich red, sometimes also called Fox Red or Poppy Red. The Nordroom has made this shade their pick for next year, citing that it’s popping up everywhere on runways, from London to New York Fashion Weeks. Pinterest has also reported the rise of searches for this shade, with interest in cherry bedrooms and dark cherry red continuing to grow.

Earthy, Desert Tones

Continuing from 2025, earthy tones that provide plenty of warmth to the home will still be hot. You can expect to see shades of burnt orange, cozy chocolate browns and mellow melons that are reminiscent of sand, leather and desert oasis vibes.

Furniture and Home Product Trends for 2026

Patterns Galore

When it comes to prints for textiles and wallpapers, expect to see a whole lot more of them. Small scale prints are predicted by Plumager, as well as dreamy and fluid abstract prints.

Low-Profile Furniture

Cozy furniture that prioritizes organic shapes will be top of mind for many shopping for their homes, including the ultra-trendy low-profile sofas that we’ve seen throughout 2025.

Painted Furniture

Colour will be making its way onto more than just walls in 2026. Painted furniture, including painted kitchen cabinets (a kitchen trend we saw a lot of in 2025).

Centrepiece Light Fixtures

In 2026, expect to see lighting fixtures as art pieces, with bright pops of colour, interesting shapes and plenty of influence from nature (think rattan, stone and geod-inspired items). More is more and subtle is out for 2026!

Sustainable Textiles and Bedding

One trend that we’ll continue to see more of in the bedroom is sustainable textiles like eco-friendly bamboo bedding. Not only does bamboo reduce environmental impact compared to other materials due to its quick-growing nature and biodegradability, but it’s also stylish and cool to the touch, making it a perfectly luxurious choice for 2026 and beyond. Look for certifications like OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified bamboo to ensure maximum sustainability.

Renovation Trends for 2026

Budget-Friendly Renovations

With cost of living prices continuing to rise, it will be no surprise that many Canadians have budget-friendly updates top of mind. Watch Home Network shows like Beer Budget Reno and Rentovation to inspire your low-cost updates.

Spa-Like Bathroom Updates

One of the top spots in the home to get a freshen up this year will be bathrooms and powder rooms. Expect to see forward-thinking trends that give a spa-like atmosphere. Textured wood vanities, ceiling mounted shower faucets and black framed reeded glass shower doors will be taking the design world by storm this year.
