Canada has stood out as one of the most desirable travel destinations across the globe.
That’s according to the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, which are based on votes cast by close to 170,000 readers of the magazine. The UK-based travel publication revealed its annual awards in 22 categories including countries, cities and islands.
Canada has won silver for the most desirable country outside of Europe, following gold award winner Australia. Italy was ranked as the most desirable country within Europe, followed by Croatia and France.
This One Travel Trend Is Increasing in Popularity Among Canadians
Canada also placed 8th in most desirable destinations for both adventure and for nature and wildlife. That comes as no surprise as the country is home to the world’s longest coastline and provides habitats for countless species of birds, fish and mammals.
And if the Wanderlust awards made Eastern Canada feel a little left out, another survey has shown some encouraging results.
The World’s Best Cities report for 2025 by Resonance Consultancy, a group of advisors in tourism, real estate and economic development, after surveying 22,000 people in 30 countries. Six Canadian cities made the top 100 list – with Toronto ranking the highest at number 15. Vancouver (#22) and Montreal (#35) followed, with Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton also making the cut.
Turns out that a lot of us are living in and close to some of the worlds’ most beloved destinations. What’s the takeaway? Get out and explore what Canada has to offer!
