Spending more time at home these days? Creating a dedicated spot for you and your exercise bike (or weights or yoga mat) is always a good idea. If you’ve maxed-out space in the rest of your house, turn to your subterranean area for inspiration. You’ll be amazed at how much of a difference it makes to work out in a thoughtfully decorated gym. And hey, there’s no commute – so there’s no excuse not to hit the mat!

Storage Smarts
The Baeumlers built this dream gym for a workout-loving couple – exercising here is sure to stimulate the endorphins. Bryan poured soft concrete on the floors, so that they’re cushy and shock-absorbent. The custom bench, meanwhile, has room to stow away the gear. Yes, storage is key even when designing a home gym.
Climb Time
Here’s another side of the gym equipped with a climbing wall for the kids. The adults can peddle away on the bike while keeping watch on the kiddos’ antics.
Flex Space
The Property Brothers created a cute, no-nonsense space for a family who have gymnastic-loving kids. We love the open space, anchored by the colourful rug. The equipment gets easily tucked away into the wall of built-in storage, so that the room can have different uses.
Happy Workout
Pops of red animate this cheery basement gym – the framed jersey is a nice touch and so are the matching trainers. Coordination is pleasing to the eye, don’t forget. Complete with specialized equipment and weights, the room has a ventilation system to keep the air flow healthy.
Half and Half
Can an adult and children’s play area co-exist? The answer is a resounding yes as this exquisite space by the Baeumlers proves. The large play area (complete with a rock climbing wall and tire swing) has a sitting area right next to it – let the toddlers go wild on their side, while you and your partner relax (or join in on the fun!).
Pops of Colour
Who wouldn’t want to work out in this inspiring space, surrounding by pops of colour and natural light? The rustic hangers on the wall, as well as the chalkboard are a refreshing change to standard-issue gym decor.
Mirror, Mirror
A lower living space lined with mirrors and fun pops of colour is a simple solution for what to do with an unused space. Oh and a flat-screen TV and open window are welcome, too. Who says basements are dingy?
Climb the Wall
This room may be small, but it’s stylish to the max! We’re absolutely lovin’ the mountain-themed climbing wall designed by the Rock the Block team.
With a View
What’s better than a great home gym setup with all the equipment and tools you need to workout? A home gym with a view of course! We see you palm trees. We can thank the Island of Bryan team for this awesome setup.
Punch This
This home gym may be simple, but it has all the ingredients for the perfect at-home workout: a big mirror, several workout machines, space to stretch out and punching bag, too.
